I like your video, but I have a specific situation that I’m confused about. I think I’m a very open minded person, but I almost always gets offended when me and my boyfriend starts to argue about my country and my culture. We are from different countries and we are of different races, I’ve never been so offended when I’m talking about the same issue with anyone else. Do you think it is because I’m close minded?
I would be grateful if you will reply.

      October 13, 2014 at 5:40 am

No, it’s because you’re insecure and deep down you haven’t come to terms with your country and culture. You are conflicted about it, and so it strikes a raw nerve, and in order to avoid looking, you get upset and offended.

Is there a way that I can become more aware of this instead of just understanding it logically? Like through introspection?

I will make video that guides you through an openmindedness exercise and totally opens you up. Check out the Enlightenment Part 3 video for a similar exercise.

I was born in a Muslim environment where the priests have the ultimate wisdom that can not be discussed. i noticed that I always have had a more rational mind than most of the people around me which made me sometimes ask some questions that weren’t a 100℅ accurate with the common society beliefs so..for most of them I was committing a sin,and I noticed that even the most rational arguments weren’t enough to convince them…it looked like for me that dogma covered the brain to the point where critical thinking didn’t exist anymore. IS IT POSSIBLE TO OVERCOME THIS OBSTACLE AND MAKE BRAINS WORK HARDER? IN CASES LIKE THESE.

If it’s true that everyone is responsible for their own emotions and reactions, and that there’s no reason you should get offended at anything, then does that mean you should never apologize if you offend someone? After all, that person’s suffering is self-created, as you say in your videos.

      December 23, 2015 at 8:31 am

Well, there’s what’s true, and then there’s social etiquette. You gotta be able to meet people where they are at sometimes.

+SaberX1138 You know what a good way to apologize could be? Do something nice for them to make up for it. Maybe you wouldn’t even have to say you’re sorry, because now they remember the good thing. You’d also strengthen a strategy that produces bigger results, constantly reinforcing your mental model when you remember that you did something that offends that type of person. I wonder if that also would teach the person you offended that perhaps getting offended was the wrong thing to do, as you were so willing to do nice things for them shortly after.

Thank you for your time and sharing these videos.

I have two questions. First, I agree we should be openminded. No body is perfect. The things I like, other people may not share the same taste. But if I am sharing the things I like with the people I care. At least I should get thank you rather than it is urgly. Wasn’t that the basic minner people should have? I feel waiste of my time and effect when people do that. How do you think when that kind situation happens?

Another question. You are talking we should be openminded and not to be offened at all, but in the other video”How To Deal With Difficult & Toxic People” you suggested we should cut those difficult & toxic people out off our life. I am a little bit confused. Is it your point that if we are totally openminded, we won’t need to cut anyone out? How do you balance the openminded and difficult & toxic people? Because I feel only those difficult & toxic people like to offend others.

SUMMARY – Actualized – Openmindedness – A Huge Overlooked Obstacle To Self Improvement

Openmindedness is an accellerater and very important for personal development

People easily get offended by different ideas or opinions
poeple are stuck in their beliefs, ideas

you have to be super honest with yourself and totally open your mind to develop

Its very egotistical to get offended. there is no reason for 5:00
people get offended by things they dont admit to themselves, because they bullshit themselves and they project it on other people, they bullshit other people not not having to look on themselves

you need to look inside and acknowledge

to the degree you get offended is the degree you are not well developed
a completely developed person does not get offended

people get easily offended by religion and politics, this is closed minded

people get offended by murder, rape, racism because they dont acknowledge these things in themselves 9:00

people get offended by sex, cirticism of their work, comments how you look and dress because
the reason why you get easily offended is because your ego has a world view on how life works and cant admit this distortion.
people miss the intellectual honesty and openmindedness to take the responsiblility for the informaton that is comming in and adapt it into his own model 12:00

your mental model wants to stay as it is but its better for you to open up your mind
if you cut off facts from your mental model fighting for your model you are stuck

A dogmatic person is offended by truth and different opinions

if you feel offended this is a opportunity to grow
you defend your mental weakness if you feel offended, it shows that your world view is extremely fragile
openmninded people have a robust model of life, they admit that they could be wrong what the closed minded person never does

closedmindedness is the ego protecting its frigility of their system.
this makes you very limited in life and hard to grow

Take responsibility for your own offenses, use them as vehicles for your own growth and open mindedness

    Thanks Leo

It is clear that Leo has put a lot of work and research into what he is saying. Even though Self Development is a lot of work on our part as well, personally I feel fortunate to have all of this information condensed where I can use it to get on the fast track to where I want to go.

Instinctively, for many years I have put into practice a lot of principles that are stressed in these videos. Amazing to me that I was doing these things purely on instinct, against the grain. It was tough, not the easy path. Now it is comforting to see that I am in extremely good shape in many areas. Also very cool to clearly target other things I need to work on.

    Cheers to Leo and Thanks!

Thing about close-minded Christians as example, it’s true that they don’t need to close-up that intensely… Those who do though may misunderstand what ‘Being a Christian’ means.
Ok, I as example reject any other religion but Christianity, for it’s the only one that makes sense and cuz I grew up with it, rejecting it most of the time.
But the Structure of Loving, Caring and Positive-Building, based on the Bible, gives so much Wisdom, Joy and ways to get trough life.
Aside from that: Miracles are Real! Prayer actually does something! Even though it ain’t always ‘Your way!’ …
It’s True that many of us need to open up a broader view of the World, Society Etc. instead of Locking ourselves up…
But the Locks that are Built into the ‘Relationship’ (Not Religion without love!!) protect us from many harmful subjects, such as television with it’s negative influences, all these doomsday scenario’s and false teachings Etc… (ps; False Teachs can also consist 99% truth, 1% lie (Just like Cheese for Mouse-Killing)! That 1% is enough to succumb you! If placed right…
You can’t just purely look at Intelligence(Knowledge) without looking at Wisdom(How to use Knowl/Deal with it!) if you don’t want to go crazy:
Example; Bombings, sex on tv; even in kids shows!! (Hidden 1%), discrimination, Spiritual Affinity Etc.!
Without wisdom you’ll succumb to your own harmful thoughts.. Creating dimensions that don’t exist! Making Fantasy real for yourself Etc.!….

Just like that, Righteousness can’t go without Love!Because if all were Righteous (Incl in Thoughts) everyone would fail the test!Without the Love, none can be Righteous without failing!Because Love FIRST FORGIVES!! Sees trough your mistakes! And Then it looks at Righteousness with Love!! <3 (Jesus' death on the cross)
justice: We all deserve death and can’t possibly be good enough for God!
Love!: Jesus TOOK OUR PUNISHMENT, which We deserved as the ‘world!’!! And Only Then!! God sees us Pure and Glorified, Because of Him!!
He sees past us and our wrongs and sees Jesus in us ? Which means we’re saved! Cuz He sees Purity and Only Perfection in Him!!!!
